Nick goes to San Diego at least 3 times a month for work. Last weekend he surprised me by saying he had booked a hotel Sunday night and that his meetings would be over about noon on Monday so we could go on a family excursion (that's a fancy word for outing) in the afternoon. The girls and I could not be more elated (that's a fancy word for really happy.) Sunday we left after church and checked in a posh (that's a fancy word for fancy) hotel in downtown San Diego. After a scrumptious (that's a fancy word for delicious) dinner of pizza (can pizza really be any other way then delicious?) we went back to our hotel and finished off the night by playing "Uno" and eating the complimentary (that's a fancy word for free) treats from the mini-bar.
The next morning while Nick was gainfully employed (that's a fancy way of saying at work), us girls headed to the New Children's Museum in San Diego. This place was magnificent (that's a fancy word for super neat.) We enjoyed, among other things, playing with clay, paining, making a bug out of tape for a mural, busting a move at the Barn Dance, making bubbles, and doing a floor puzzle in the Rain House (yes, it really sounded like it was raining when you where in this house!)
One of the most amusing (that's a fancy word for fun) experiences was having story time in the belly of a GIANT wooden horse. Yes, you heard me right- this story time...
was held in this huge horse...
After Nick was done for the day we headed to The Mormon Battalion Visitor Center in Old Town San Diego. We all enjoyed this illuminating (that's a fancy word for educational) adventure where we learned all about the brave men and women who joined the Battalion and sacrificed so much for their church and country. The girls where completely enamored (that's a fancy word for in love with) with panning for gold we had a hard time getting them to leave.
Thank-you Daddy for our swell holiday. It was perfect!!! (That's a fancy way of saying it was the best ever and we loved every minute of it!)
